Category: Full-Time
Title of Position: Associate Veterinarian
Website: www.premier.vet
Name of Company/Organization: Premier VetCare
Location:

Nashville, TN

Job Description:

Premier VetCare, an independent privately owned veterinary hospital located in Smyrna, just south of Nashville Tennessee, is seeking resumes for Full Time Associate Veterinary Position. Practice offers complete veterinary care to its clients, to include orthopedic and advanced soft tissue procedures. The practice offers the best veterinary medicine has to offer, but works with the client to allow them to provide their pets the best care they can afford. We do not board or groom, we practice only medicine and surgery. We do have a close relationship with a large local boarding and grooming business. Voted locally as the “Favorite Veterinary Hospital” since 2012.

The practice opened in 2004 and has steadily grown into one of the largest practices in our market. We are a paperless practice with digital radiography, ultrasound, computers in 7 exam rooms, wireless surgical monitor, electrocautery, CO2 laser, full in-house lab and more. Staff is trained to help DVMs with routine sample collection, reporting, and client communication.

The practice is dedicated to a fun, enjoyable, and positive work environment. We strives to prevent the toxic work environments found in so many veterinarian practices.

Our practice has several emergency and specialty practices in the area to help support our client’s needs. But our practice is equipped and experienced to assist clients that may not be able to afford specialty care.

Interested Applicants must have the heart of a teacher. Must enjoy teaching our owners about the importance of wellness care, dental care, and in the health issues their pet may have in order to create an effective team with the owner. The DVM team is dedicated to mentoring, so new or recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Premier VetCare is already supported by several DVMs with general, advanced, and orthopedic surgery interest and experience, so though surgical interest is a plus, there is room for a medicine only interested individual. Also room to expand the practice with a DVM with Exotic interest as well.

Schedule will involve evening hours as the clinic is open 7:30 am till 8pm. Doctors rotate with closing shifts on a weekly basis. Practice pays DVMs on a Pro-Salary basis, so motivated DVMs are rewarded financially. Current DVM staff earn between $90,000-$135,000 per year. 5 day work week M-F, hospital is closed Saturday and Sunday, but some patient care may be needed on weekends for your hospitalized patients. After meeting base pro-sal requirements 4 day work week may be available. The practice moved in October 2011 to a new 6300+ Sq ft facility with 7 exam room, three wet/dental tables, and dual table surgical suite.

Required/Preferred: DVM, and license in TN
How to Apply: Interested applicants should send their resumes to Dr Michael Hatcher by e-mail at [email protected]. Applicant may also apply in person T-F 9am till 1pm.

Title of Position: Small Animal Rotating Intern
Website: www.bgvets.com
Name of Company/Organization: Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists + Animal Emergency
Location:

Lexington, KY

Job Description:

We are a locally-owned practice that emphasizes high-quality, individualized patient care. We utilize a team-oriented approach with no departmental politics. The intern will gain a well-rounded experience and develop the surgical, medical, and client-communication skills necessary to practice high-quality medicine in general practice, emergency medicine, or residency training. Our interns have primary case responsibility with ample support and guidance from senior and specialty clinicians. The practice is a nurturing environment that fosters opportunity and growth. In addition, through collaboration with our referring veterinarians, the interns rotate through general practices in the area. There is 4 weeks of elective time.

Teaching is a vital part of the hospital philosophy, regardless of position. Patient rounds are held twice daily. Didactic rounds are held twice weekly and include weekly topic rounds (intern seminars), morbidity and mortality, and journal club. The interns will each present Grand Rounds to the hospital at the end of the year. Research opportunities are available for interested or residency-bound interns. We also incorporate veterinary business and management components into the internship with discussions regarding practice ownership, associate compensation, education of expenses for individuals and the practice, day-to-day organizational management, and other related topics.

Lexington is an outstanding mid-sized city with tremendous opportunities for business, education, and families. It is the home of the University of Kentucky and Transylvania University; numerous activities are available in and around the city such as rock climbing, hiking, biking and water sports. Keeneland race track hosts spring and fall meets. Cincinnati and Louisville are approximately 1 hour away and Chicago and Atlanta are only a 5 hour drive.

We accept a number of veterinary student externs. In addition to 4th-year U.S. students, we have had externs from Germany, England, France, Israel, and Ireland which creates international opportunity for our student externs and interns. An elective rotation at our hospital during the 4th year is helpful if applying for internship, but not required. On-site interview or phone interview is highly recommended. Title of Position: ER Veterinarian
Website: www.northwoodanimalhospital.com
Name of Company/Organization: Northwood Animal Hospital/PETS Emergency
Location:

Tallahassee, Florida

Job Description:

We are searching far and wide for an ER superhero veterinarian (or someone that strives to become one).
Are you bored with yet another case of flea allergic dermatitis? Do you hunger for the excitement of being a life-saver with emergency medicine? Do you want to be part of a team that is there, 24 hours a day, for the good times (puppy vaccines at 10am) and the bad times (10pm GDV surgery)? If so, maybe we are the place for you. We are looking for a hardworking, compassionate, experienced veterinarian for an overnight emergency position, working 3-4 nights per week. Super skilled with empathy and good at collaboration with patients, clients and coworkers. Consider joining our team at Northwood Animal Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida!
We are a 40 year busy AAHA-accredited general practice and 24 hour hospital, treating dogs, cats, with some exotics (and a chicken here and there). We are busy and see a varied caseload that will require your superpowers. During regular hours we are general practice. After hours and part of weekend we are emergency only. This job would be overnights only-daytime emergencies are covered by the day vets at Northwood and our sister hospital, The Animal Hospital and Pet Resort at Southwood. Between the 2 hospitals there are 13 veterinarians, all willing to let you “pick their brain” about challenging cases. “Toys” at your disposal include Cornerstone paperless software, Sedecal digital x-ray machine (D/R); ultrasonic dental unit and digital dental x-ray, Companion Therapy Laser; Philips ultrasound machine (2017 model); Idexx ECG; In-house Idexx Laboratory including, Idexx Procyte Dx, Catalyst Dx and Abaxis clotting analyzer, Sedivue urinalysis machine, Progesterone testing, etc. Monitoring equipment includes Idexx ECG, Cardell and Vetspecs anesthetic monitoring; Heska IV (12+) pumps, Ellman cautery unit and an Airnetics Oxygen Generator for unlimited O2 for your patients.
Are you tired of having to euthanize a treatable pet that would be highly adoptable? We have a nonprofit rescue (CARE) that runs out of the hospital. If there is a case where premium treatment is not an option (lack of finances, stray, etc.) and the owner is willing to relinquish ownership for the betterment of the pet, the ability to save a life exists. Once the pet enters our care, you can practice the skill needed, or learn a new skill needed to be a lifesaver. Win Win for everyone! Definitely caped crusader behavior.
As the capital of Florida, Tallahassee is located 45 minutes from Gulf beaches with a climate and geographical location ideally suited for a variety of outdoor activities including beach trips, hiking, kayaking, fishing, biking and running. If you like the outdoors, Tallahassee is for you! Home to two universities (Florida State University and Florida A &M University), Tallahassee offers a multitude of arts, sports, and cultural offerings to fill your free time. But we are not a huge metropolis with crazy traffic jams. Even superheroes need a hobby and a life/alter ego outside of work.
Salary will be commensurate upon experience and shifts worked with a base somewhere between $85,000-$110,000. Salary is on Prosal basis and most of our emergency vets produce enough to be paid north of $110,000. Benefits include 401K with matching funds, continuing education allowance, liability insurance, vacation time, dental and vision insurance, health insurance allowance, and optional gym membership. We get both hospitals together for fun group activities, with trips to the North Florida Fair, movie nights, tubing trips and clinic parties. We work hard and play hard.

Required/Preferred: medicine and surgery, small animals and exotics
How to Apply: For more information or to apply, send cover letter, resume and references to Dr. Sondra Brown 850-508-8073 or via email [email protected]. Check out our website

Title of Position: Full Time Associate

710 S Washington St, Plainville, KS 67663

Job Description:

More than just a Mixed Animal Practice!

Are you tired of navigating the ins and out of veterinary job ads? We are too! Look, we are a keep it real, drive it forward, team of people who love where we live, who we work with and what we do. Let us break it down for you!

Who: We are a 2 doctor one location practice with an awesome support team in the final stretches of a big expansion to a two location multi-doctor practice.

Where: We eat, sleep, breathe, play and work in the heart of cow-calf country in rural Kansas. Literally more cows than people and we are close to a large, local college town for people needs (AKA great restaurants, shopping, fun social events and general suburban awesome).

What: We are truly mixed. For example, our current “number of species seen in one day” record is eight. Overall, we see a lot of beef cattle and cats and dogs along with numerous small ruminants, exotics (hoof stock and pocket pets) and a smattering of horses, camelids and anything but primates. Primates are a no-go for us.

Why: The whole truth. This work involves less than ideal weather, shared on-call hours and some hard work. So why do we do this? We have the equipment (plus some cool toys) to get the work done and full facilities to work safely, but its really about the PEOPLE. The team and our clients make our days fun, buffer the struggles and give our job purpose.

What we can promise:

v True teamwork and support. This team wants you, us and the whole practice to succeed.

v Hands-on Mentorship. We will coach, lead and help you become the doctor you want to be.

v Diverse caseload. Eight species is pretty good, but there are more for us to work on.

v Room to grow. We encourage new ideas and to develop interests and skills within the practice.

v Purpose. We want you to feel your work has purpose and you feel apart of your community.

Required/Preferred: DVM/VMD

Guffey Veterinary Clinic

Location:

84 Main Street
Guffey, Colorado 80820

Job Description:

GUFFEY VETERINARY CLINIC
Looking for a forever owner

The Guffey Veterinary Clinic and Healing Arts Center is looking for a forever owner to fill the large shoes vacated by retiring veterinarian Amy Mason, DVM, or Doc Amy as she is known.
The dream of a lifetime was shattered in an instant in a car collision in June 2016. Though not her fault, the car accident left Mason with a Traumatic Brain Injury, forcing her early retirement and changing her life forever. “It was truly heartbreaking for me to accept that I could no longer continue with the clinic I love so much,” said Mason in a Christmas letter to her clients. “I will be forever grateful for the precious time and memories I have with you and your animals, my beloved patients. I miss you all so! My heart Aches!!!”
Mason and a friend are putting together a memory album. If you have any stories, letters, and pictures to share, please send to Guffey Veterinary Clinic, 84 Main St., Guffey, CO 80829, Attention Memory Album.
Mason is seeking an energetic veterinarian, perhaps just out of school or one more seasoned, but who would like to relocate to the rural Guffey mountain area. When the clinic is sold, Mason would like to have her retirement party and introduce her new replacement, she said.
Mason has owned and operated the GVC for ten years and has built up a clientele over those years; her client database, covering a 60-mile radius, comes with the sale. The clinic, housed in a charming, historic, Guffey-style building at 84 Main Street, includes an exam room and laboratory; office and reception areas; surgery and dentistry room with all equipment. There are fenced areas outside, a kennel, and many storage outbuildings on the property. There is also space for a “doggie salon” inside. A full service veterinary truck fully stocked with equipment for house calls comes with the clinic.
The practice consists of 90% small animals and 10% large animals including dogs, cats, horses, cows, llamas, alpacas, and goats and has been a boon to the Guffey area. This practice is already set up, ready to go, successful and has a clientele who are dedicated to their animals. There is only one multi-county, large animal veterinarian in the area. The next closest veterinarians are 35 plus miles away.
As an incentive for veterinarians to locate and practice in a rural community, the Veterinary Education Loan Repayment Program signed into law by Governor John Hickenlooper in June 2017, will pay up to $70,000 for loan repayment to accepted veterinarians. Visit www.https:/velrp.colostateedu.com for more information.
This is a great chance for an energetic veterinarian to move right in and start practicing. Is this your opportunity; do you know someone who would be interested; or do you just want to tell the GVC brokers what a special place Guffey is and what you would like in a replacement veterinarian? Contact Coming Home Realty, 729 Main Street, Canon City, 719-792-1111 for more information, or www.ComingHomeRealtyPros.com. Title of Position: Internship in biological reserach, sustainable agriculture, and conservation in the Peruvian Amazon
Website:

https://www.sustainableamazon.org/

Name of Company/Organization: Alliance for a Sustainable Amazon
Location: 7224 Boscastle Lane
Hanover, Maryland 21076
Job Description:

The Alliance for a Sustainable Amazon (ASA) is seeking interns to assist its international team of biologists and conservationists with various projects spanning biological research and monitoring, sustainable tropical agriculture, and conservation.

LENGTH OF STAY: 4, 8 or 12 weeks
DATES: Rolling basis starting May 27, 2019
LOCATION: Peru, Madre de Dios region.
WEBSITE: https://www.sustainableamazon.org/peruvian-amazon-internships-2019

We have three Internship Programs designed to provide individuals—students, early-career or aspiring scientists, and/or those with a deeper interest in tropical biology or conservation—with the chance to learn through direct, hands-on engagement in basic scientific research and applied conservation projects.

Each of our three Internship Programs share a common academic structure that includes an exploration of topics in tropical biology and conservation through hands-on activities and skills-building exercises, readings and guided discussions of the primary scientific literature and in-depth independent study.

Skills developed by interns:
● Training and practice in basic field research skills, including off-trail navigation and use of GPS and GIS, techniques used in studies of tropical biodiversity, ecology, and conservation (e.g., experimental design, data collection, management, and analysis, forest inventory plots, tree climbing and canopy access, wildlife and insect survey methods, camera trapping, etc.)
● Identification of major Amazonian plant and animal groups (e.g., trees, mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, insects and other invertebrates)
● Sustainable tropical agriculture methods and best practices
● Weekly assigned readings on topics covering tropical biology, sustainable development, and conservation
● Guided reading discussions from the primary scientific literature
● Advanced field research methodology through in-depth Independent Research Project

Interns will contribute to ASA´s various projects in the field through hands-on participation. Ongoing projects for 2019 include the following:
● Biological inventories - Butterflies (hand nets and baited traps), birds (weekly point count surveys and opportunistic sightings), mammals (camera traps), herpetofauna (reptiles & amphibians; nocturnal surveys).
● Butterfly biology - Searching potential host plants for immatures (eggs and caterpillars) and rearing immatures to adulthood in the field laboratory.
● Plant phenology - Weekly surveys for timing of fruiting and flowering of select rain forest tree and plant species, as well as the addition of new species to the project protocol.
● Cacao agroforestry - Growing cacao (source of chocolate) as part of a diverse agroforestry system, incorporating native food, medicine, and fiber plants into the system.
● Environmental education - We are working to create awareness of environmental issues and foster an environmentally-conscious society in the southern Peruvian Amazon. Our environmental education projects focus mostly on elementary and high school children in Madre de Dios, Peru.

Independent research

Interns staying 8-12 weeks (Advanced & Academic Quarter programs) have the option of completing an in-depth independent research project on a topic of their choosing that is aligned with the ASA`s research priorities, under the guidance of ASA faculty. This allows interns to build upon what they learn at the beginning of the program and apply it to a project in an area that is novel or interesting to them. Topics may also be assigned in an area of our faculty’s academic expertise, including wildlife biology and ecology, entomology, botany, natural history, sustainable tropical agriculture, and community development.
Past interns have completed a variety of projects, including the construction of artificial macaw nest boxes, inventories of rain forest carbon stocks, and diagnostic surveys in local communities, among others. Follow this link to view published interns research reports: www.sustainableamazon.org/publications

Required/Preferred: An academic background or strong interest in biology, ecology, agriculture, or conservation is highly recommended. We do not offer academic credit through our organization, but we are happy to work with your home institution so that interns may gain credit. All instruction at the site is in English. Although Spanish is not required, at least basic skills are useful.
