Deans Message

Lincoln Memorial University seeks to advance the visions and values of Abraham Lincoln - hard work, integrity, and respect.  Founded in 1896, situated in the beautiful Cumberland Gap mountains where Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia converge, our private, non-profit university has a rich history of meeting the educational, medical, nursing, and now, the veterinary needs of the Appalachian region and beyond.

The Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine is an innovative program, in which our hallmark is high quality, practical based, student-centered education to produce day one competent and confident veterinarians to meet diverse roles in the ever changing spectrum of veterinary medicine. Our innovations include our hybrid distributive learning model, the first ever of its kind in veterinary education, our collaborations with centers of research excellence, our immersive pre-clinical curriculum, rich in professional and clinical skills, and our OneHealth program.

Given the chance to build a brand new college allowed us the opportunity to construct state of the art facilities specifically designed to promote student learning. Spacious facilities with robust technology, high quality veterinary equipment, coupled with innovative veterinary simulators and live animal teaching laboratories create an outstanding student-centered learning atmosphere.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to providing the very best veterinary education available, and provide a close knit, supportive, family environment. Our highly credentialed faculty are motivated by improving learning outcomes, fostering innovations in teaching methodologies, and ensuring student success. Faculty with diverse backgrounds provide ample opportunity for students to engage in research opportunities.

Students are the heartbeat of our program, and their success is our mission. As such, we conduct high stakes practical and professional examinations at the end of every semester, which ensures that our students advance through the vivid display of learned skills.  Believing that education is dynamic, we continually solicit digital feedback from students regarding learning methodologies, laboratory design, and practical examinations.  In essence, our students indeed are aiding in building our program, and I am proud of their enthusiasm.

I consider it a true blessing to be the leader of this wonderful college, and I would encourage you to come see for yourself what is going on the Cumberland Gap area.
