Groups who desire either tours or self-guided tours are welcome. Please call in advance to schedule. Allow approximately one hour for self-guided visit of the galleries. Guided tours can last between one to three hours depending on selected educational activities. Group leaders may wish to allow time for shopping at the Lincoln General Store.
To schedule a tour by phone, call 423.869.6235. Please have available the name, address and telephone number of the school, the number in the group, grade or age of the group and the preferred day and time. If you wish to add on additional education activities, please alert the scheduler that you wish to speak with Program Coordinator Natalie Sweet to include an educational experience at no additional cost to the price of the tour.
Pre-K to First Grade: Storytime and craft based on the book Mr. Lincoln's Hat (30 minute lesson)
Second Grade to Fifth Grade: Exploring Artifacts as an Introduction to Primary Sources (45 minute lesson)
Sixth Grade to Eighth Grade: Exploring Primary Sources through the Letters of Benjamin Trail, an African American Soldier (1 hour lesson)
High School: Understanding Context: A Primary Source Exploration of Political Cartoons Depicting Abraham Lincoln (1 hour lesson)
All buses should load and unload students in the museum parking lot unless directed to another location. The buses may then park in the Tex Turner Arena parking lot until it is time to pick up students for departure.
